Everything is the same and yet not: food and grocery delivery the foodora way

After our brand and name change 2 years ago, we have reached another important milestone, but don't worry: you don't have to say goodbye to the familiar and beloved services. In fact! Now is the time to leave the smiling panda behind in order to develop our service. What can you expect? The familiar selection, quality, speed, plus a few new services! This is primarily why foodpanda will become foodora from May 1st.

NetPincér, foodpanda and now foodora: how is this?

The foodora service has changed and evolved a lot in the more than 24 years of our existence. While we have always tried to respond to the needs of our users and adapt the foodora service to suit you, we have experienced and achieved several milestones. But, like all good stories, let's start this one at the beginning.

You may still remember it, or you may have read it somewhere, but foodora was originally launched as NetPincér, back in the days of dial-up internet, on March 19, 1999. In a dorm room, mainly with the ever-hungry dormitory students in mind. Fortunately, thanks to the openness of restaurant partners, restaurant delivery and food ordering took off on a steep upward trajectory, and NetPincér became a nationwide service within a few months.
In the early 2000s, it became increasingly obvious that there were hungry NetWaiters not only in Hungary, but also in neighboring countries. Or even beyond. Thanks to this, in 2003 we set foot in Austria and neighboring countries, among others.
As the restaurant offering expanded, more and more people used foodora's predecessor, NetWaiter, year after year. Thanks to the platform's developments, by 2008 we had already exceeded 1,000,000 orders per year, and this number continued to grow along with the user base until 2014.

At that time, negotiations with the international group of companies Delivery Hero began and behind the scenes we started to think about what cool and useful features we could make you more satisfied. As a result of the negotiations, we joined Delivery Hero in 2016 and from then on there was no stopping.

Even in the year of joining, our own courier service, NetPincér GO, came, then foodpanda delivery, thanks to which we built an increasingly stronger brand on the employer line. Incidentally, thanks to our own courier service, restaurant delivery capacity also increased, as this allowed food delivery to start in restaurants where, due to the lack of couriers, it was only possible to consume on site.

The next step took place in 2021, when not only a new loyalty and reward system and referral program were introduced during a major brand and name change – aka foodpanda – but our services also expanded significantly. Stores have arrived on the foodpanda app, our own store network has been launched under the name panda market, and in some cases, Takeaway ordering is now possible. We will further enhance this cool journey from May 1, 2023!

Többek között ennek már lesz a népszerű foodpankából foodora több európai országban is. Május 1-től ugyanis nemcsak Magyarországon, hanem Ausztriában, Csehországban és Szlovákiában is foodora néven lesz elérhető a márka. Ezzel a lépéssel Európában 8-ra bővül azon országok száma, ahol Te is igénybe veheted a szolgáltatást, hiszen néhány éve már Svédországban, Norvégiában, Finnországban és Dániában is ezen a néven találkozhat vele, ha éppúgy felsorolt ​​országok valamelyikében jártál. The service previously known as NetPincér GO and foodpanda delivery will now be known as foodora delivery. With this opportunity, we continue to cooperate with our 4,000 contracted courier partners, who can perform the noble task of home delivery flexibly throughout the country, adapting to their schedules and needs. By the way, we are proud that we have a fleet of 4,000 people in Hungary.

You can still use our own courier service in more than 30 cities across the country. In addition to Budapest, foodora go can also be found in cities such as Budaörs, Budakalász, Gödöllő, Szentendre, Győr, Miskolc, Szeged, Nyíregyháza, Szombathely, Mosonmagyaróvár and Pécs.

With the help of our Foodora couriers, you can now not only use restaurant home delivery, but also do your everyday shopping. You don't have to worry about losing the ability to order to a different address, place a group order, or order for someone else due to the brand change. You can enjoy these useful and sometimes life-saving features under the foodora brand too!

When we launched it in 2021, we never thought that panda market, our own store network, would be such a success. The nationwide foodora market currently consists of 13 stores, from where you can order your favorite delicacies and useful household items every day of the week, from 8 am to 10 pm.

For example, milk for your coffee, pastries for breakfast or a snack, maybe food for your cat, or washing powder for spring bed linen washing. In our wide selection, which varies by region, you will find almost everything you need at home. Whether for cooking dinner, a movie marathon, diapering, or cleaning.

Depending on the geographical coverage, you will still find our Stores on the app. Today, you can also find chain stores such as Tesco, Penny, COOP among foodora's business partners, but you can also have your order delivered to your home from pharmacies, florists and specialty stores. You will still find our partner stores on the foodora platforms as Stores.

We won't leave you without news: the subscription system, foodora pro, is coming

Foodora pro is going to be a real hit, we think you'll find it pretty cool too! Shortly after the rebranding, the veil will be lifted on the exclusive offers from many restaurants, grocery stores and shops and unlimited free home delivery, which will further enhance the authentic foodora experience! What should you do with the foodora app if you continue to use the service?

Nothing in the world. The new mobile application will be continuously arriving on phones from April 11th. However, foodora users do not have to worry about losing their data, loyalty points, saved orders or restaurants, or ratings; only the design and name will change, while the functions, login details, and interface structure will remain the same. This convenient transition is also true for the website, as the new look will be more about the look than the substance: user details, login credentials, and other foodora-esque features will remain the same as before. A simpler, cleaner, and more transparent experience and appearance awaits you.
